Is there anywhere especially suitable?

Elswick Pool has good access and changing facilities for people with disabilities.They have a session on Friday mornings 10.30 a.m.-12.30 for people over 50 who are not very fit and want to get fit. It costs £1.

Newburn Leisure Centre Newburn Leisure Centre has adapted bicycles that you can hire to cycle along the riverside.There is a sports drop-in for disabled people on Tuesdays.10.00a.m.-1.00 p.m. It costs £2.50 and you can try different sports.
Groups can book to use the speedboat or to do archery.

East End Pool in Byker has a swimming session for people with special needs. It has very good facilities for disabled people. It is on Wednesday Evening, 7:30pm - 8:45pm. It is free.

Lightfoot Sports Centre has good facilities for people with disabilities. They also have a multi sensory room for people who enjoy different lights and sounds. They run a trampolining session for people with disabilities on Thursdays at 10.00 - 11.00 a.m.

Kenton Park Centre has special weights in the gymm for people who use wheelchairs. They do trampolining for people with disabilities (with a hoist) every Monday 1.30 - 2.30 p.m. (cost £1.60 per person for two hours).

Sports Club (Very Independent People)

What will I be doing?

Play new sports, perhpas enter competitions. There is table tennis, swimming, fishing, carpet bowls, darts, snooker, boccia, dominoes, javelin, discus and more.

What days and times is it on?

Sundays 10.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m.

Does it cost anything?

It costs £4 a year to join.

How do I get there?

it is at the Churchill Community College (which used to be the Willington High School) in Wallsend.

What sort of people go?

It is for adults and children with a disability. If you need a lot of help you must take someone with you to help you to take part.

Football

What will I be doing?

Training to take part in a football team. (The Millennium Allstars).

What days and times is it on?

Wednesday evenings. Meet at 4.00 p.m.

Does it cost anything?

It is free.

How do I get there?

The team play at Newburn Leisure Centre. There is a minibus meets up at West End Health Resource Centre to take you there.

What sort of people go?

It is a team for people with learning disabilities (men and women).
