What will I be doing?

Enjoying movement and dance.Try out all sorts of dancing.

What days and times is it on?

There are classes on most days.

Soon there will be a class for people with special needs on

Mondays 1.30 p.m. It will cost £3.50 for an adult plus their carer.

Does it cost anything?

It depends on the class.
(Discount with Citycard, and for unemployed people).

How do I get there?

Dance City is on Temple Street behind the Tyne Theatre.

Bus number 10 stops nearest.

What sort of people go?

Anyone can go. But if you have a physical problem, it is a good idea to ring and check before you go.

Drumming Group (East)

What will I be doing?

Learning how to drum on African drums.

What days and times is it on?

Thursdays 7.00 p.m. - 9.00 p.m.

Does it cost anything?

£2 a session.

It is at the Blackfriars Centre on New Bridge Street, by the traffic lights with Crawhall Road. (Just before you go over the Byker Bridge).

Learning to drum.

Thursdays 5.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.

It is free.

Drop-in Music Cafe

What will I be doing?

Have a sandwich. Listen to music. Join in on the instruments and karaoke machine.

What days and times is it on?

Wednesdays and Fridays 12.00 - 3.00 p.m.

Does it cost anything?

It is free. (You have to pay for your sandwhich or drink).

How do I get there?

It is at the Redheugh Studios, Cuthbert Street, Gateshead.
(Just the other end of the Redheugh Bridge).
There is some parking but it might be difficult.

What sort of people go?

Anyone.

Learning to sing in a group. Sometimes there is the chance to make a CD or to perform at different events.

What days and times is it on?

Wednesdays 3.30 p.m. - 5pm term time only

Does it cost anything?

It costs £2.

How do I get there?

It is at at the Sage, Gateshead.

What sort of people go?

People with learning disabilities and their supporters.

What will I be doing?

Line dancing, social group, music group, gentle exercise.

What days and times is it on?

Line Dancing: Thursday 11.45 a.m. - 12.45 p.m.
Social Group: Friday 3.00 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.
Keep Fit: Monday 1.30 p.m. - 2.30 p.m.
Music: Friday 1.30 p.m – 2.30 p.m.

Does it cost anything?

£1.60 per session.

How do I get there?

It is at Age Concern, MEA House, Ellison Place, Newcastle. It is a big office block.
It is not very easy to get to. You can walk over the ramp behind the Central Library or get a Metro to Manors and walk over the bridge to the Swallow Hotel, then turn right.

What about lunch?

There is a coffee shop in the building.

What sort of people go?

Older people (over 50) with learning disabilities.

People who use wheelchairs are welcome.
